• This activity requires team members to dye fabrics using different herbs and other natural ingredients found in Jeju. It is quite popular with foreigners who wish to experience traditional Korean culture. Each team creates its preferred color and dyes certain pieces of fabric using ingredients it finds. This is a great exercise for building and enhancing solidarity and friendship.



• Participants dip the fabrics into boiled solutions of various natural dye ingredients, allowing them to observe the wonderful transfusion of colors and to experience the healing power of botanical dyes.

Persimmon Dyeing

· Experience hours: 30 ~ 40 minutes
· Unripe persimmons are used in this activity to dye fabrics. Rich in tannin, unripe persimmons help produce all-natural fabrics that are healthy for the skin.

Indigo Dyeing

· Experience hours: 30 ~ 40 minutes
· One of the most ancient sources of dyes in Korea, polygonum indigo has been known for its abilities to lower fevers, detoxifies the body, de-stress the liver, relieve fatigue and heal dermatological conditions.

Other Natural Dyeing Ingredients

· Goehwa: Flowers of Japanese pagoda trees in Korea have long been used in traditional herbal medicine as an ingredient for treating extravasated blood.
· Somok: This reddish tree has long been used in traditional herbal medicine as an ingredient for treating hypertension.
